Instead of trying in vain to justify the low PS3 sales, why don't they simply offer what people want, a lower price NOW? I've been playing games since the CollecoVision era, and to my knowledge most people never upgrade within a console cycle. Sure, there are those core gamers who buy all consoles available, but once a system becomes dominant, the 2nd and 3rd tier systems don't have much of a chance. That happened with the Atari 2600, NES, PS1, PS2, and now the Wii. The notable exception is the SNES overtaking the Genesis eventually, even though the Genesis had quite the headstart on Nintendo in the 16-bit race (especially in America with the 1991 release).
Hardware is only a means to enjoy great games!
