Mods have no responsibility to tell anyone anything. They are human just like everyone else on this website. They decide when someone has crossed the line, and act to the best of their abilities (warning, short term bans, or perma-bans). You don't have to like it, but that's the way it is.

They don't necessarily have to tell anyone on the site why someone else was banned. However being someone who did fall on the wrong side of the tracks, it did get frustrating not hearing from any of the mods about being banned, not knowing how long it would be, etc. Of course I'm not trying to step on any toes, or point fingers at anyone especially since the mods here do a great job trying to keep the forums as peaceful as possible. (Difficult to do on the web anymore).

I'd just suggest if the mods could send a email to a user explaining the ban as well as the length so they know what they did (Usually they do know what they did, just not the length of the ban). Keep up the good work mods!

Well, there's a problem with this (I think):

1) The one and only time I've banned somebody, I did, in fact, send them a PM. Do you have access to your mailbox after a ban (being recently banned, I'd think you have the answer for this)? I have a funny feeling that you don't - in which case, my information went by the wayside until the ban was lifted and defeated the purpose.

2) If you're talking about actual email, I (and I doubt any of the other mods) have access to that information, unless of course, you've put it in your profile.

3) And, if I'm the one that banned you, then you've obviously done something so egregious that I'm pissed off and frankly don't give a crap about taking the time to scan your profile looking for an email so I can tell you about the ban - I just whack you with the hammer! :P

...and no, I wasn't the one that banned you previously - you'd know if it was me. ;)

1.  I only mentioned that because of the ban that I acted like a idiot and deserved.  But I couldn't log into my account, it just takes you to the profile but you don't actually log in to read the PM's that came in.

2. I wasn't sure what type of moderator access that the mods have when they put a ban in.  I know that many sites moderators don't have the option to see email addresses except for admins, etc.   I know that on some sites that I'm a moderator in, when I go through the ban control panel I can check a box that will send an explanation of the ban to the user so they can see what happened and how long of a ban it will be.   Not every site I moderate has that option but a couple of them do.

3.  I agree... I deserved the ban.  And believe me I won't be making that mistake ever again. :)  I know it wasn't you talon who did, I just wish I would have gone back and edited what I did instead of leaving it there and then going to bed only to wake up and find out the ban hammer hit me.  (And it did hurt, ouchie!)
