I don't see why they would cut out one USB port, is not like it would cost them significantly less plus there's no reason for Sony to give this sort of details to retailers before they even officially announce the slim existence. Best bet would be Sony will announce the PS3 slim at the 1st Gamescom conference in Cologne and have it out right away.
