Arcades weren't popular *just* because of the graphical difference, they were popular mainly because of the social aspect.
With the way the home consoles now, you don't need the arcade to get together with other gamers and get your name on the high score boards.
Sure, there will always be the random nostalgic arcade, but arcades are dead and are going to stay that way for a good long while.
