One could argue about language, but it's impossible to not have existed and there for not a great discovery or something. If you want to know why we're able to speak then it's because of evolution. We have something in our brain that's called zone of brocca(I don't know the english word, so it's in my native language) and strottenhoofd(again in my native language)
That's why it was inevitable that we learned a language.
