How the hell can they make MGS:R look better than MGS4?

Where do you see hate for MGS4? I think that game gets the respect it deserves. I'm just saying that looking at some footage from MGS4 it doesn't look no where near as epic as the first metal gear solid. The fact that I hate cutscenes will probably not help me liking this game.
