What is the point of the thread? This is fairly simple, the total cost of ownership of a 360 is based on how you use it, the total cost of ownership of a PS3 is fixed. This means that comparing price must be done in a context, there is no absolute price for 360 to use and if you pick one you are comparing prices for only a subset of the market. In the absence of statistics on model and accesory breakdowns for the 360 we cannot compute a real average cost of ownership for the 360 so this entire concept of saying x is cheaper then y is pointless. If your goal is to educate people on the costs involved in owning an HD concole you are wasting your effort here because I would be shocked if 90 percent of the users here were not quite clear on the topic. If this area really interests you then a better topic would be to compare the market strategy used by MS and Sony, namely increased user choice at higher per feature expense versus many integrated features with low per feature costs with a higher entry cost. This is actually a very interesting topic but we are not addressing it at all with this thread. Off Topic: Why is it so hard for some people to accept that not everyone thinks and wants the same things they do? Just because you would not find it useful to own a 360 arcade without live and a wireless adapter it is arrogant and foolish to assume nobody does, especially in the face of current market data. |
