I agree with your choices, it was really tough fo rme as well. I rated Suikoden higher than FF and Grandia higher than Star Ocean or Tales.
One could argue that Grandia is technically turn based while star ocean and tales are realtime but IMHO Grandia's system is the perfect mix of turnbased and real time.
In terms of realtime, I like star ocean more than tales.
Suikoden, to me just feels more "complete" than Final Fanatsy. Eevry Suikoden game ha a link to the original game (except Suikoden Tierkries for the DS) which makes for a more fleshed out story/history etc.
Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to play SMT yet (I own several of them but haven't gotten around to playing them).
