I'll eventually pick up a stand-alone BR player when the prices drop, but for now I just use my PS3.
I admit, I am a bit concerned that the drive will burn out, as I have a 60GB PS3 and use it to play PS2 games quite frequently. But it's not a major concern.
If it did break? Yes, I would likely buy another PS3.
As for your second question, I have only two PS3 games (Singstar and Valkyria Chronicles - I sell the majority of the games that I finish) and about 35-40 blu-rays (most of which were bought when Amazon had those great BOGO sales, the rest are bought from forums like blu-ray.com and redflagdeals.com).
