1) why we arent stopping the taliban?

Because they are recruiting people from mainly Pakistan amongst many other counties and there seems to be limitless amounts of them.

2) how many years will it take to stop them, if indeed we can stop them?

Never, unless terrorism stops but it doesnt seem that will be possible unless the taliban are wiped out.

3) how many civilians and troops need to die to stop them

millions if we were to go all out in a full scale war to stop them. But we dont no how many more taliban members there are who havent commited yet.

4) if the taliban cant be defeated, why are we there?

To prevent terrorism apparently. They can be defeated but its just not economical and not worth it.

5) do the taliban pose a direct thread to the UK and/or US?

We will never no. If you mean destruction of buildings such as the incidents in US and UK then yes. But only 6,000 people died in those incidents, more troops have sacrifced their lives to stop the taliban in there back yard.

I guess its better fighting them in thir country than ours but it seems as though more people from other counties are prepared to join the taliban. I remember 3 BRITISH doctors attempted to crash into a hospital in Scotland. If we cant trust our own then who can we trust?

The main problem with the taliban is we dont know what they can/cant do.
