I didn't like the UMD because it was one of the main contributing factors to the psp being too big and heavy for a handheld console. Not exactly something I could put in my pocket without needing a good belt. The DS was a better design because it was smaller, lighter and didn't have a noisy energy consuming motor for spinning disks.
But now with the psp go they've fixed those issues : )
