Final Fantasy VII holds top honors because it revolutionized RPG video gaming in my opinion.
Final Fantasy VIII is my favorite though because in my opinion it did away with the level grinding in lieu for drawing magic for hours. (ok just joking about that part) - but I did love the story the most for FFVIII.
