Yeah, it's not like we should take userbase into consideration. Plus, what is the PC userbase? A couple billion? If that's all the 10 million sellers it has, that's pretty pathetic.

You're asking a really obvious question here.

PC's gaming userbase is 300 millions, according to recent studies. PC is a whole different fish because only slightly more than half the revenue goes to buying games, while the rest is spent on subscription, microtransactions, etc... also there's far more competition on PC than on consoles: There are more PC games being developed than in all consoles combined. So it's even harder for a PC game to break through a huge barrier like 10 millions.

But forget PC. What about comparing Wii vs X360 and PS3? Sure Wii has a bigger installed base, but isn't the PS360 base supposed to have a more hardcore and informed userbase? And I'm sure that there's much more ad push for PS360 games than Wii games.

And PSP? Even with such a big installed base, why is there no game even reaching anywhere near 10 millions?

The software figures are pretty poor for a 300 million userbase. And I'd like to know about that study. Does it include people who own gaming PCs but don't game on them very often? What's the sample size? I doubt they surveyed 300 million people. And if it's not a survey, how do they gather this data? Nobody ever asked me anything. But enough about that.

Library size is a poor excuse. The DS has a bigger library than any of the other consoles, and accordingly, a larger userbase. A lot of games come out for the PC, but a lot of them are also incredibly obscure. Often the consoles with the largest hardware and software sales have the largest libraries (and feel free to use circular reasoning here).

And I don't know if you really can't figure out all your questions by yourself. They're not that hard. The top selling Wii games sell exceptionally well because they are seen as the defining games of the system. This is why titles like Wii Fit, Wii Play, and Mario Kart Wii have such high attach rates. It's been true for Nintendo consoles before. And if we're talking about ads, the Wii has plenty. Most of the big Wii games were included in the Wii style commercials, which were played endlessly back in 2007 (and possibly in 2008, I stopped watching TV for the most part that year).

As for the PSP, you know the answer to that question. Why are you asking these things? Can you really not figure out the obvious answer for yourself?

PSP=Piracy=Poor attach rates

After a year or so, the PSP became heavily pirated, and software sales became lower and lower. Most of the stellar PSP sellers are older games, because newer games just can't reach sales totals like the games near to launch.
