I don't think it's that much of a problem, Ratchet is a platformer, Demon Soul an RPG, MAG a shooter and Uncharted is adventure, as for Fat Princess, it's just a PSN game.
The holiday season is the most important, they need to focus on that and show to shopper why they should buy their console. You can't expect other developer to let them free reign and not compete during that time of the years, will it eat sale of your game? Sure, but it's necessary for you to keep your market share.
