I think you're forgetting something,
£166 vs £293 plus one year head start.
If you compare the first few years of them in the market, the playstation 3 is actually doing better than the xbox 360.
In terms of now, just because the playstation 3 is not selling as much as the other consoles doesn't mean it's the least preferable. You have to consider its current pricetag to understand why it's not selling as much. Not everyone is able to buy an expensive system. It takes time to save up. Why do you think the market demands a pricecut in the first place?
I'm getting really tired of people using sales as an excuse.
