Haven't Jrpgs always been a representation of Anime? It is just Anime has changed like gaming has changed over the years. If you look at the art designs of older Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest games they don't look too different from that of the Anime of the time. Though I guess they became more dependent on Anime as technology progressed enabling video games to have cut scenes and such. Today, I would say it is based on the game and the developer. There are tons of DS rpgs that are like Anime but in game form, while there are tons that focus on gameplay. It seems like all genres are going toward this dependence on other forms of media.
