Not really. To boycott something is to abstain from buying, using or dealing with a certain product or maker, usually because the product/producer has or is doing something that the boycotter deems unheathly, unethical, or just can't agree with. A boycott CAN be a protest, but doesn't have to be. You don't have to go around telling everyone that starcraft2 is stupid because it doesn't have LAN and not to buy it to technically boycott the game.

In this case, people are refusing to buy starcraft2 because they believe it's wrong that Blizzard has terminated LAN support. Thus, they are boycotting the game.

I think by boycott some people mean I won't get a bootleg copy because I won't be able to play MP
