Sorry it's shit. Really, it is. Sure it has some cool action, etc. but its not even a movie let alone a film.
Plot = zero sense at all. I actually felt from scene to scene the scripwriters had forgotten what they'd written just a moment before
Narrative Structure = awful, just terrible flow that (ironically for a movie about big robots) relied on Deus Ex Machina more than any other film I can remember
Script = really awful. Just painful to watch the actors (who actually looked to be trying their best) try to sell their lines.
Plot holes = bigger than the robots, mainly because there was no real plot at all
I'm just staggered people can like it or say that the big explosions excuse all the other bad stuff. The damn thing is nothing more than a collection of unrelated scenes that the makers though would be cool.
An no, I'm not comparing it to Citizen Kane, I'm comparing it to Raiders of the Lost Ark, Jaws, Star Wars, etc. Blockbusters than actually manage to deliver thrilling, exciting entertainment and of a high quality of script, narrative, etc.
Heck, I could even compare it to itself - as while dumber than the aforementioned classics Transformers was at least a fair way better than this, with at least some attempt at a narrative.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
