The 2 games are completely different. Both are good, but AC can get very 'samey' when you're saving up to buy something at Nooks - Fish, dig, shake, repeat ad infinitum. The fact it's tied to a calander also means if you catch all of the bugs/fish in a week or so, then the rest of the month is less enjoyable.
This is only my opinion, not fact and others will think different.
