Sony has patented the Emotion Engine emulator for Cell, EE is the ps2 is main processor so this could mean that software emulation for ps2 games is very close and that all ps3 will be able to play ps2 games and the dream of having ps2 games on the PSN is closer.
Sony developed a way to translate instructions from an Emotion Engine chip into chunks that can be referenced.
