Lost Odyssey is a bit overrated on this forum. I had fun with it, and overall it is a good game - but there were several issues which bothered me.
Also, the first two bosses were the only difficult battles in the game. Both can be beaten with strategy, though; they don't require luck. (I was actually disappointed that the game became easier after that.) The Temple of Enlightenment does not require any grinding to beat.
I've heard the Tales of Vesperia demo is a horrible representation of the full game, which actually seems to be the case for most JRPG demos. For that reason, comparing LO to the ToV demo is unfair. I hated the demo myself and haven't bought the full game because of it, but I'm still tempted to try it.
