It just seems like not having LAN would be shooting themselves in the foot. I am sure it will be a great game when its released but to me it will feel like a gimped product.

The sad thing is, this game will make money hand over fist either way. but the 3rd party lan mod may come into play. that gives me a little bit of hope. However I am still no longer inspired to rush out and buy it as soon as it comes out.

I doubt you will get third party lan support any time soon.

If Blizzard is smart ( and they usually are) they won't include part of the MP code in the shipped version and that code will be running on battlenet.

Good luck duplicating that code :P

Seriously, with how good net latency are these days, what reason would you have to want to play lan over bnet aside from doing it because you are running a copy you didn't purchase ?( and bnet will most likely provide an ELO like ranking for bnet players).

PS : multiple ppls can play wow from the same household off the same router ( and wow actually uses battlenet now for some of the authentication) so I don't expect there to be any issue with Starcraft 2 around that.

PS3-Xbox360 gap : 1.5 millions and going up in PS3 favor !

PS3-Wii gap : 20 millions and going down !
