Personally, I already own a PS2, and the Wii/60 is my platform of choice. I bought a ton of original XBOX games, and to date, I only played one of them extensively. I have a huge selection of Gamecube games, but can't bring myself to play them either. I didn't play PS1 games on my PS2.
Backwards compatability isn't really a big deal for many. Still, I figure the consumer who can barely afford the $400 model is going to be the one (who would be) using the system for $10 PS2 games. The guy that splurges for the $600 version is only going to go for the high end HD experience he paid for-PS3 games only. Of course, I'm over generalising.
*Strangley, I won't play XBOX or Gamecube games on my current systems, but I have downloaded so many Live Arcade and Virtual Console games......weird.
