Worst RPG storyline ever

Maybe the thread should have been called let's hate on Star Ocean. Personally I enjoyed the game. I've played it for over 160 hours and the characters really grew on me. The story may not have been anything groundbreaking but it doesn't strike me as anything worse than a B scifi movie. I think a lot of hate for the game exists due to Lymle. She is an odd choice for a character and her voice acting is more or less universally hated. However killing things with an exploding fire dog=Win. I also loved the battle trophies they are like achievements inside achievements. Again I am not saying the story is the best ever but what is it that is so much worse than other RPGs kay? I see no reason why your wife would dislike Star Ocean.

Thank god! I mean, when the story of a game makes you like the characters after a while, you know it's not bad writing at all. I think people who hated the game are just too rational and never really liked Star Trek in the first place. It's not a fantasy game so much, and it has good sci-fi elements in it. That's instant win in my book. The character interaction was fine, I mean you know what you have to know about every character in the important cutscenes, then you can do the sidequests to learn more about the world you're visiting and stuff. It's typical JRPG stuff, but it's good.

At first, I hated Faize because I thought he was "kind of girly" (yeah, believe it or not. I have nothing against those people though), but then you grow to like his character more and more. I have to admit Sarah shouldn't have been included in the game. She's the only one I didn't care about even after completing the game (it seems like they didn't really emphatize on her character so much).

 

On-topic: I have nothing to contribute to this thread! I mean, I can't really choose one. My main problems I have with RPGs are mostly gameplay-wise. So, I question myself, did anyone play a bad RPG? I mean a REALLY bad one?

Oh wait, scratch that: Add Oblivion to that list. You want a plain world and a game that lasts 4 hours and then you're done with nothing interesting to do but get achievements? That's the game for ya!
