Well, I haven't played Tales of Vesperia yet... It's next on my gamefly queue, but... LO is a fantastic game. It's much more FF7-ish. I guess it depends where you are in your JRPG lovings.
If you played and enjoyed classic JRPGs you'll definately appreciate LO. It's generic in the sense it's all been done before, but it melds all the classic JRPGs into one fantastic game. I was glued to the my Xbox while playing this game.
I played the demo to Vesperia only. I'm looking forward to playing it, but it's certainly a different game.
SO4 ... sucks... I know you didn't mention it, but I really really hated that game. I wanted to like it mainly because of the combat system. I just couldn't even get through the first CD before I couldn't take the story and voice acting anymore. It sat under my TV and slowed down my game queue because I hate sending back an unfinished game. Maybe I'll get back to it, but I couldn't waste my time with it anymore.
