he could have called before may or april. Before that microsoft was charging for e74 errors. However, now that is included and anybody that got charged for it should of had it refunded by now.
Yeah, as for the receipt thing, microsoft wouldn't even be able to check it. They don't have access to other stores internal records, that is why they take the serial number on the back of the box instead of asking for a reciept.
Also, they will give you a halo edition, they might gut the insides and replace it with new components, but you will get the same case back. If I were you, I would want them to gut the insides.
