The only problem with that is 360/PS3 are not equally easy to develop for. A developer has to change alot of code to switch between PS3 and 360 development, because of the different system architecture (cell chip, etc). |
There's been talk from the developer community stating that the PS3 is difficult to develop for, but only in reference to taking full advantage of the hardware. I'm betting that producing a faithful port from the 360 to the PS3 isn't all that difficult and doesn't require a huge investment. Also, at least one developer has said porting a game from the PS3 to 360 is even simpler than the other way around. Check out this Factor 5 interview:

My Top 5:
Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger
My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii
Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.
