They have the method patented. SONY has to find a different method. I've been thinking "just introduce mic support in text chat"

I could get around that so easily. Like you said, voice communication talk in a different option. Its not rocket science, i cant imagine it being that hard to implment either.

It's a resource hog that they have to make room for within the resources they have at their disposal meaning they have to get all the resources it costs from xmb improvements because if they steal from the rest the games on the system wont work anymore.

 

They give developers a certain percentage of the system to use and the rest is used for the background processes.. and voice chat is a pretty big resource hog.. all things concidered.
