If Sony had replaced the PSP-3000 with the PSP Go than some of your points may be valid.
As it stands though, the old model is stilll available and the go is aimed for a different segment of the market.

For example i have never wanted a PSP until i saw the PSP Go. Now i can't wait til October 1st.
