It depends on what the best GB/$ deal MS can get on HDDs from multiple reliable manufacturers. Ars Technica keeps an eye on HDD industry, so I bet they’d have some insight on that too.

What some people forget is that HDD prices don’t go down much over time, they increase in size. 20GB drives aren’t much cheaper to make then 60GB or 1TB drives. All the money is in the mechanisms to get it to work, not the magnetic platters that determine size.
