Think of it as this. An old IP being milked to death is like being married. Even if it a successful relationship and you're happy with it, and you once in a while try new things, it is still the same pussy as it was years ago. A new IP is like getting a new girlfriend. She might be really fun and you get to do crazy stuff you never did before with a different chick. You could get bored very quickly and dump her, or you could really enjoy it enough to marry her. The metaphor is now complete.
