Did Microsoft INtENTIONALLY want HD-DVD to fail?

Digital Distribution would grow well regardless of whether HD-DVD failed or not. Microsoft holds only a small fraction of the DD pie, and the Hard-disc formats would change nothing since DD will always be the future.
