Well, if you can wait for Tales of Vesperia on PS3, definitely get Star Ocean. It's a very fun and addicting action-RPG, and I really loved the fact that you can go back to previous areas. This is always something I look for when playing those kind of games. Also, the story is not bad at all and the gameplay is usual Star Ocean stuff. If you were already a fan of the series, well, this one is definitely the best out there. There's really no reason to complain about this one after playing SO3... IMO!
But yeah, you can't go wrong with both of them. There's not many JRPGs out there this generation anyways, so you might as well buy both one day! =P
