Why are the USA beating Spain at Football?

Especially a US team which has played in a very mediocre fashion in World Cup qualifying, getting thrashed by Costa Rica and having to come from behind against Honduras (at home!) to win.  And especially a US team that squeezed into the semifinals due to the failure of the Italians to score a single goal against Brazil or Egypt - a team that was thoroughly dominated by Italy and Brazil in the first two matches.  And especially against the reigning European champions with more or less their strongest lineup (minus Iniesta).  What an historic achivement! 

Imagine what a breakthrough it would be if we could go on and win the whole tournament.  The US has beaten Brazil before, in the Gold Cup, but it was 10 years ago and it was a Brazil "A-/B+" team.  Brazil dominated the match quite thoroughly nonetheless, and it took Kasey Keller's finest match as a professional to stop them from scoring...and a single Preki goal to secure victory.  I'm dreaming of another, bigger moment against Brazil, if we can roll that tenth straight 7.

Hey, if Mexico can beat Brazil from time to time, I'm sure USA can too.
