They simply underestimated the USA. With the last match Spain set records for the longest winning streak und the longest unbeaten streak in history. And then comes the USA, an average site who barely and by pure luck managed it to the semi-final. What do you expect from them? Nothing. And so the USA seems to have found the tactics to beat them, while Spain became to arrogant.
But that's the great thing about football: everyone can beat anybody if it's the right day. Don't know many other sports were this could happen...
