Its cost/benefit ratio is poor.
The consoles would have had implemented:
- 16 512Mbit chips (expensive)
- 8 1Gbit chips (expensive/limited availability at launch
Also since they have a 128 bit bus, to take advantage of the extra ram they would have had to have implemented:
- 256bit bus (expensive)
- GDDR5 (Unavailable)
