You’d have to ask if these titles can still be referred to as “DVDs”. With all the crap that is currently put on them, I seriously doubt they would even meet the DVD standard (just a hunch - I’m yet to check the official standard).
I share your sentiments FishyJoe, and am cautious about draconian protection schemes if BR becomes the dominant format. I made a couple of posts on this earlier in page 3 of the format war thread http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?start=100&id=1133.
