I use Comodo for antivirus and firewall when I'm on Windows. Was using Kaspersky before that expired, Comodo is free and gets the job done.
Other than that I'll occasionally run Ad-Aware and Spybot Search&Destroy for good measure.
*The subscription for AdBlock Plus is for the desired list of blocked sites, mostly goes by region (it's not something you pay for, it's just for you to choose the premade list).
