I've never shaved my legs, which are medium-hairy, and I've never shaved my chest, which is luckily still super smooth at age 24, but once I shaved my armpits with a razor. It sucked and itched like hell growing back in. Now I'll just occasionally trim it down with some electric clippers down to half an inch or so, to keep it trimmed without itching. Face-wise, I keep a badass moustache and beard (see photo album). Downtown-wise, shaved (front and back) for about 5 years. I can NOT stand having a single hair on me down there. It gives me the creeps. And I'm not even hairy down there. I just NEED to shave it all. I've considered waxing, but to do that you gotta let it grow all the way out first, and I could never wait that long.
