c'mon. It's political manouvering. Nothing more. He wants to pay less royalties, he wants Sony to eat margin so he can make more. In the end he'd be happy if MS and Sony gave away their consoles so that he can sell more titles.
I really don't think he has any 'stick' with which to beat Sony and I'm pretty sure they know it.
He simply can't drop support for CoD/MW and GH on Sony platforms - the 360 and Wii wouldn't make up the slack, he'd simply be giving away profitable sales and harm the overall sales of such titles. I doubt Infinity Ward would see Activision as a great publisher for them if they see sales of their golden goose dropping by a huge amount.
He could drop support for smaller titles, but so what? Most of those aren't going to sell huge amounts and won't make a blind bit of difference to Sony.
Sony on the other hand could remove (I presume unless someone can find anything that says otherwise) lucrative movie tie-in's for Sony owned movies like Spiderman. If they did that, and he dropped smaller titles, I'd be willing to bet it would be Activision that would lose more than Sony.
Personally I think he's hoping that Sony won't want such public statements kicking around and will consider giving him some favorable treatment regarding royalties and consider accelerating their plans to drop PS3 price.
MS may be able to get some small advantage out of this but it seems minor. They are already paying to get exclusive maps, etc. for titles like MW2 and even if they got a few minor exclusives with the smaller franchises those, IMHO, would scarcely be worth having.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
