Microsoft's pet project titled towards groping in a larger audience seems to be running to hit another milestone. As developers continue to grumble regarding the storage capacity of the 360 in light of placing modern games such the  GTA IV in the midst of the consoles storage limitations, Project Natal which is touted as one of the driving features of Microsoft's next generation project will be backward compatible with all released SKUs including the arcade which retails sans the hard-drive. In a candid interview to Gamasutra, Shane Kim not only outlines the future of 360's but also talks about Natal and its importance in the curriculum of growing the boundaries of its company.

BS: Will Natal be usable on arcade consoles that don't have a hard drive?

SK: Yeah, I believe that.

Microsoft mean business with this project and it shows in almost every interview/demo they discuss regarding the project.

Microsoft Building New Studio For Next Generation Natal

Natal seems to be on track for defining a unique form of entertainment that will encompass both casual and hardcore users alike. With high profile development teams such as Epic, Bungie and Lionhead studios already pledging their support for the project, Microsoft has also started to build up a separate team (similar on the lines of their internal Halo team) within Microsoft Game Studios to handle high profile games that are bound for this piece of technology. The postings include a creative director, lead environment artist and lead software development engineer who is well versed with current middleware engines such as Unreal 3 and CryEngine.

That is a whole lot of innovation and muscle power their gaming division is hunting for. A note for all those who are deemed to be hired-Please craft games that do not make us look juvenile and retarded.
