| Kantor said: I doubt it. Firstly, a port from Wii to PS3 would be a port up. The game would need significantly more detail (and features) to justify that extra power being used. This would also take a fair bit of money. Secondly, the Wiimote comes with every Wii, which means that every single Wii will be able to use those motion controls. Sony motion control will require a Playstation Eye AND a PS3Mote, which could easily add on an extra $100 together. The userbase would be significantly smaller. Thirdly, the PS3 and Wii motion sensing is very different. While the Wii motion sensing is picked up by a sensor bar, and uses two dimensions, the PS3 motion sensing is picked up by a camera, and uses THREE dimensions. You can move forwards and backwards in the game. And it has a coloured orb on the end! So in short, no, this wouldn't happen. |
Being on the PS3 does not mean you need to use it's extra computational power. Look at many PSN games and Disgaea 3 if you need proof.
It's not expensive to tack on a control scheme (especially ones that already exist). Even if not every PS3 has a wand it takes next to no expenses to add the option.
Though they attain the data about controller location differently but the API's behind them will be the same meaning developers wont have to do much anything different on the coding side.
So in short it's probably going to happen.
Where Sony is lucky is that Western Developers don't see the PS3 as a toy so they may get even more of those PC like games that involves pointers as well. A real version of Civilization, Diablo, StarCraft and other games would be rad.
