I read it back in 2006.

You can't say the guy is wrong, since from his standpoint the post is mostly correct, only his take and standpoint is what should be taken into consideration.
What he basically said, was "this" is bad, because it's not "that".

By the way, did anyone notice how it took Cell into detail to show how it can't reach the theoretical power of the processor, to prove that Cell and Xenon are actually a lot closer to each other, than what the specs say, while at the end praised Xenos against RSX to prove that they are further away from each other, than what the specs say. And it also didn't take into account the systems overall performance.

and did you notice that the article failed to mention that the Cell processor can also do unified shader's also...

which is his main claim why the Graphic's are more powerful in the xbox360 compaired to the PS3's..which is why this article has no real

Relevance today'.

look i understand you and other's want to strongly think this article is an indepth, factual account on the hardware , but its not its quite flawed in his take because at the time

:IE 2006 the OPINION he has is what he had on at hand. not what the systems can get to in their PEAK results. the peak result's are a guide line to what the system's can attain. and by test's that IBM showed was based on what they had at hand with the tool's they had right than , not what tool's they have now.

@bdbdbd

you stated this:

"while at the end praised Xenos against RSX to prove that they are further away from each other, than what the specs say. And it also didn't take into account the systems overall performance."

think about this for a sec. that same very article tout's that he had heard the RSX was reduced to 500 Mhz and that it's not 550 MHz while both Nvidia and Sony have stated it is indeed 550 MHz and if that is not enough. the article went on to clain its just a 7800 gtx. based on what little info he had he noted it was based on N47 but that's all he had. the fact of the matter is the RSX is not just a 7800 it has core technology inline with the 7900 if anything, that based on its shader's/sec which are 76.4 billion/shader opp's /sec.can each GPU attain the MAX most likely no. but can they get near their MAX in some cases yea on the whole prob. not

Once again i have no prob. in this guy's take on the info he had back in 2006 , I am just pointing out this article's Relevance today.

for instance.

THE EDRAM in the xbox360 has a  256 GB/sec peak on Xenos

but on the same token faild to mention

the PS3's EIB is 304 GB/sec peak

my point is when he wrote that article he made his opinion on the info he had on hand . which his statement can only be as acurate with what info he had omn hand  which is outdated. due to the fact that he

for

1) never updeated his take on what level the systems have been able to reach on the FLOP's today.

2) they systems software is not static..the ENGINE'S can change to gather better result's. so result's you may have done iin 2005 or 2006 results in 2007 could be better. which he's not updated anyone with updated stat's.

3) his claim "is their much closer to each other" but yet has he done any test's himself he just made an "OPINION" on what he thought was how they would perform based on what info he had in 2006.
