The Nintendo DS is definitely an unsung hero. It has a great lineup every year, and somehow it keeps getting better. Hopefully SE and Level 5 can get Dragon Quest IX out here for the holidays.

My biggest surprise by far was the PSP. It's going to have three awesome looking Final Fantasy games (I still haven't even tried crisis core-- if only I had friends with PSPs), a kingdom hearts, a parasite eve, Metal Gear, LBP, Resident Evil, Fat Princess, Lunar: Silver Star Remake, Monster Hunter, that driving game with the nice graphics... and that's probably still less than half of the interesting games announced for it. Gonna have to buy one... I'm going to end up owning every system pretty soon.

But I'd say the PS3 still has the most exciting lineup of games on the horizon, particularly for those who like variety. Some of the best and most unique action games, platformers, JRPGs, a shooter, a fairly unique game like Heavy Rain, a racing game I've heard is good, by far the greatest year for PSN, a bunch of MMOs, and of course, my personal Game Of The Forever (though I stole that phrase from someone else) The Last Guardian.

What they don't talk about in the video is what's actually coming out by holiday 2009. When it comes to that, I don't think the PS3 stands out anymore, now that games like GoW, Heavy Rain, and White Knight Chronicles have all been pushed to early 2010. For the end of 2009, the PS3 may still be competitive with the 360 and Wii (Uncharted 2 is probably at the top of my list after Dragon Age) but I definitely don't think it outright beats them.
