People saying you'll get eternal damnation for not believing in Jesus or god is so annoying. Hell is such a logical hole that it's laughable. Anybody that takes a second to think about God damning you to hell would have to realize that it makes either christianity moot, or the idea of hell wrong. Let's do a little thought experiment.
Let's say me and fagarcia are sitting together in a room. I am a secularist, no belief in god, I don't accept jesus as my personal savior. Fagarcia, devout christian insists that I must believe in order to get into heaven, actually I'm going to leave fagarcia out of it because I don't want it to seem like I'm picking a fight with him personally, I'll address it to any christians that think eternal damnation is a consequence of anything I could possibly do.
Anyway,Me and a christian are together in his house, I don't believe in god. Do you as a christian douse me in gasoline, light me on fire, stab out my eyes, put my testicles in a vice, sic a pack of angry hounds on me, torment me to the best of your abilities until I die? I will assume the general answer is no. I ask why not? I would guess answers would vary between things such as "that would be wrong" or "that's not my responsibility, that's for god to do" or some variation of those. I ask you as christians, do you want to do that to me? I will hope the answer is no (you'd be ignoring everything christ taught as well if you said yes). You as a christian do not want to torment me, burn me alive, inflict pain on me.
So now I ask, why does god want to? Why is he so eager to do what you as a christian would find so morally reprehensible? Now a possible response to that would be "Well he doesn't want to torment you forever, he wants you to repent and become saved!". Alright, he doesn't WANT to burn me forever in torment, but he's going to anyway just for the hell of it? Why?
Is some one forcing his hand into burning me forever? If so, he's not omnipotent god. Is Satan doing it (thusly washing God's hands of the horrible unjust act), and god just won't save me because I didn't believe in him? Then he is callous and not all loving and all forgiving. Or does he in fact just want to torment me? Then he's just a sick twisted god. The latter two completely contradicting the notions of christianity, that being god is love and mercy.
Hell completely contradicts the notion of a loving god. There is no excuse for hell. There is no justifying that a loving god would create a place of eternal torment, just for the fun of it, or that he couldn't destroy such a place if some one else made it. It is impossible for there to be both a place of eternal torment of damned souls, and also an infinitely loving, infinitely powerful god.
I'm pretty confident that I'm not going to be tormented forever.
