I think if before the gen started everyone knew that 1 in 3 360's overheated and was dubed the RRoD and in a year and half worth of time MS will start taking care of the problem and in 2 years time the problem would be uncommon then many early adapters would probablly be turned off. So no one at all who bought a 360 before the Ps3 launched would wait for the Ps3? And no one who bought the 360 while Ps3 was on the market wouldn't opt to spend more money to avoid the RRoD? Are you from this parallel universe we are speaking about?

Not enough. People wanted the 360 when it released. And when the 360 was on the market at the same time as the ps3 the warrenty was covering RROD. The fact is, no one really wanted to buy the ps3. Maybe if ps3 started at 400 we would see something different but even with rrod not many would buy the ps3.
