I learned long ago that Sony makes decisions using some form of deep magic that I cannot even begin to understand.

I believe that if Sony pulls off a 100$ across the board price-cut, they'll probably bankrupt the company. However, they're crazy enough to do that.

What I think is vastly more likely is some stereotypical Sony sleight-of-hand involving releasing an improved harddrive/backwards compatibility model, then reducing the price on existing models as a measure to sell out stock while simultaneously ceasing production.

Or, if you want to go tinfoil-hat conspiracy theory time, they announce in 3 months that the entire E3 motion control thing was basically a ruse to confuse MS, and announce that they're launching the Playstation Motion Control Eye this christmas with a handful of 1st party games. I mean, getting a camera to track a sensor in 3d space should be really easy. If they started working on this in early 2008 (when it was obvious to everyone that motion controls were staying), they should easily be able to launch in christmas 2009.

Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.
