What happened to Final Fantasy 13 versus?

well to be honest i didnt get very far but from what i played it was really mundane and slow, it was like i was in the game for 5 to 6 hours and still nothing has happened to grab my attention, i might go back to it later but not anytime soon, too busy with nocturne to care about any final fantasy really
