"Democracy... while it lasts is more bloody than either aristocracy or monarchy. Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There is never a democracy that did not commit suicide." - John Adams
The first line of that quote is what's important. Basically it say's protecting peoples liberties comes at a cost, but the cost is worth it.
I left the rest of the quote in as a reminder for people like me who are upset that the world John Adams created no longer exists. The good news, is he knew it would fail, so no need to feel like we let him down.
The country we have falling into for the last 90 or so years, is what he expected. He would probably be shocked it lasted as long as it did.
