BC wasnt as big an issue for me as some. Obviously individuals with a large and awesome back catalog of games look for the older/bundle models that can play these games.
All the features packed in the PS3 make it a smart buy. If you are looking for all the HD bells and whistles, the PS3 packs a nice punch.
